KiK:  When and why did you go natural?
Jai:  I went back to being natural because I was tired of relaxed hair, I found it awfully mundane and I had a friend who had gone back natural and I admired what she did with her hair. Also, I was amazed at the versatility of natural hair :).

KiK:  How did you go from relaxed to natural?

Jai:  I transitioned for 6 months, every 2 weeks I’d nip some of my relaxed ends until i had a little bit of hair to make a TWA because I wasn’t sure if very low hair would compliment me.

KiK:  What is your current hair regimen?

Jai:  Initially i co-washed three times per week and shampooed once per month and every weekend I’d deep treat with whatever natural products i could get my hands on be it aloe vera, avocado, honey etc. When my hair became a little longer i began co-washing once per week and deep treated at that time too; shampooing is still a monthly deed.

KiK:  What products do you use?

Jai:  Ahh, where do I start? I use Cantu Shea Butter products (the leave in conditioner and deep treatment masque), Elasta QP Moisturiser and the Leave-in treatment, Argan Oil Eco-styler Gel,olive oil, castor oil, shea butter and Ettenio Creme de la Creme moisturiser and the 24/7 leave in treatment, Roots of Nature Reconstructing Deep Treatment, Sauve Shea Butter and Almond Shampoo and Conditioner.

KiK:  What is your favourite hairstyle and how do you achieve and maintain it?

Jai:  My favourite hairstyle is installing Marley braids/ havana twists. I prefer to install them when my hair is wet and so I use olive oil and seal with shea butter or I use my Ettenio products.

KiK:  Any advice for new or struggling naturals?

Jai:  Remember to moisturise, it makes a big difference. Also, don’t get caught up in hair envy!
