It’s Christmas! Like a lot of people, I’ve been wearing Ruby Pumps by China Glaze for years. Sorry, but I haven’t kept the 4 empty bottles to prove it. You believe me though, right? This year, I decided to try my new favourite budget brand – Nanacoco. I picked up this new (and maybe even better) glittery red colour.
Topcoat Used – Yes. The topcoat significantly brings out the shimmer and deepens and adds to the dimension of the colour.
The colour Red Fantasia by Nanacoco is very difficult to capture on camera. It is a deep red with bright red and silver glitter. It is absolutely beautiful and way more vibrant than the popular Ruby Pumps (which gave me many wonderful years of Christmas bliss). Still, the silver and red flakys are beautiful in Red Fantasia.
APPLICATION & CONSISTENCY
This is probably the thinnest Nanacoco nail polish I’ve ever used. The first coat is smooth and very sheer. The second, although it looks fine, isn’t as rich and dark as it shows in the bottle. For the look of that deep, rich red and distinct bright red glitter you see in the bottle, you will definitely need a third coat. Still, with three thin coats, the polish isn’t chunky at all and applies very smoothly and easily. Ultimately, still, you will need a top coat for the glitter to really pop.
LONGEVITY & REMOVAL
This polish lasted me about 5-7 days and should do the same for you with a topcoat. I do gardening, cooking and cleaning myself so if you’re not handy like me, maybe it could even the entire week. By day 5, I have to do some touch-up on the tips with a chip here or there.
Removal is very easy compared to most glitters. You do have to use more cotton than regular polish as usually but a little back and forth motion easily removes this polish. The larger glitters are a bit harder but still fairly easy when compared to the old school glitter polishes.
The colour is gorgeous and I received the most compliments I’ve had from a polish all year. Still, it does require three coats and a topcoat. It takes a little bit of work, but it’s well worth it. The fairly easy removal is a huge plus for this vibrant and heavy a glitter. So, this polish gets 4.5 out of 5 stars – because I never give 5 unless the polish lasts 7 days without chipping. Ultimately, I’d still buy it again.
