I dare say that vampy is a definite summer nail polish trend for 2015. What? No? It’s not? That’s OK. I’m bringing it in. LOL. I’ve gone a bit cray cray with the more vampy nail laquer colour purchases this summer and one of the latest is Sexy Divide by Essie Nail Laquer. Don’t worry, I’ll alternate nail polish posts with the more traditional bright, poppy summer colours, but my new polishes are deserving of some spotlight. APPLICATION & CONSISTENCY
This nail polish has a lovely smooth consistency, but it is a bit thin. The brush is medium thick as usual but the thinness of the polish makes it hard not to flood the nail bed. As such, 2-3 thin coats are the only way to go. The overall application can be somewhat patchy so one has to work slowly/carefully in thin coats.
Because of the thinness, perhaps, this polish dries ridiculously fast. The colour is much deeper indoors and at nighttime (see pic below). It actually shows quite differently from when seen in direct sunlight (above). In direct light, it displays a micro-glitter but maintains it’s sophistication and overall plum tone.
LONGEVITY & REMOVAL
The polish can last the average 7 days (as most Essie polishes do), but only with a thick topcoat and the use of gloves when handling water. I found that the polish tended to show silvery (probably from the glitter base) when exposed to water for a prolonged period. Still, there were absolutely no chips or
Sexy Divide removed without any issue at all. Like most rich colours, it took some extra cotton but there was no staining of the nail.
This colour is absolutely vivid and beautiful. It should wear for 7 days with care. Still, the polish can be a tiny bit tricky to apply, so this polish gets 4 out of 5 stars.
